About Kukame

We bridge the gap between mining projects and the capital they need.

Kukame Holdings (Pty) Ltd is a mining project funding consultancy. Our work is to prepare mining projects for funder engagement, identify the right capital sources, and manage the process through to funding close.

Who we are

Kukame Holdings was established to address a specific and persistent gap in the mining sector: viable projects, held by legitimate rights holders, that cannot access funding because they do not know how to prepare for it, who to approach, or how to structure the conversation.

We are not a bank and we are not a funder. We are the independent consultancy that stands between a project and its capital: preparing the due diligence, navigating the regulatory requirements, identifying the right funding instruments, and managing the engagement with development finance institutions and private funders on our clients' behalf.

We are based in Wapadrand, Gauteng, and we work with mining projects across Africa, grounded in a deep, daily understanding of the South African regulatory framework that sits underneath so much of the continent's mining finance.

Leadership

Louis Buys

Co-founder & Chief Executive

Louis Buys founded Kukame Holdings with a clear mandate: to give African mining projects, particularly new emerging miners, the same quality of funding preparation and funder access that larger, better-resourced operations take for granted.

With a background spanning micro lending, bond origination, bridging finance, business consulting, acquisition negotiation and franchise development, Louis brings a structured, process-driven approach to an industry that too often loses good projects to poor preparation. He leads every client engagement personally, from the initial NDA through to funder submission.

Joel Ntabane

Co-founder & New Business Director

Joel Ntabane drives the strategic growth of Kukame Holdings, leveraging his extensive network across the African continent to identify and secure high-potential mining partnerships.

With over a decade of experience in corporate relations, strategic market expansion, and stakeholder management, Joel excels at bridging the gap between emerging miners and institutional investors. He specializes in navigating complex regulatory environments and building the robust foundational relationships necessary to bring projects to market readiness.

What makes us different

Three reasons projects choose us.

01

We prepare before we present

Most projects are rejected not because they are poor, but because the submission is incomplete. We build the full due diligence package, regulatory, technical, financial and commercial, before a project meets a single funder.

02

We know the regulatory environment

Mining funding is inseparable from the MPRDA, the Mining Charter 2018, DMRE compliance and BEE ownership requirements. We work inside this framework every day and prepare our clients' projects accordingly.

03

We stay

We do not hand over a report and disappear. Kukame remains engaged through funding close and into production, because a deal that does not produce is not a deal that worked.
